What is the structure of our lessons? We are following the 'International Learn to Swim Programme' (ILSP). This programme is run by the 'Swim Teaching Association' (STA). So you can be sure that all participants will be getting a professionally run and internationally accredited swimming lesson, where the focus is always on having fun and progressing in a safe and enjoyable environment.

Where can we sit when observing swimming lessons? There are a set of double doors close to the pool where parents, guardians and carers can watch from a safe distance and observe progress.
-
Why don't you recommend one-off trial sessions? We recommend block sessions rather than trial lessons because it allows participants to get a good insight of the swimming lesson experience. In our experience, block sessions allow swim teachers and assistants to build a good rapport with participants whereas this is much harder to do in one session. Additionally, after teaching individuals for a couple of lessons, we are more easily able to find out what aspects of swimming they enjoy. This allows us to plan a swimming lesson that is fully tailored to cater for every individual regardless of age or ability. Subsequently, we see great enjoyment and progression as a result.

How do we receive feedback on our child's progress? At Coral Reef Swim School, we create a "Swimmer's Profile" containing all of the individuals sessions. For each week, the swimmer's teacher will colour code their assessment sheet with either green (pass), orange (good but needs practice), or yellow (not yet attempted). Thereafter, the teacher will give 1 star (i.e., a positive of the child's strokes/skills during the session), 1 wish (i.e., advice to improvement of the child's strokes/skills during the session), and 1 goal (i.e., an aim/target to achieve for the next lesson). These are then reviewed by either Ellie Depledge-Barr or Jordan Dibble to give managerial comments to both the parents/guardians/carers and the swimming instructor.
